Psychiatry

Amy Berlin, MD is a psychiatrist in private practice who specializes in women’s mental health issues—including perinatal, post-partum, perimenstrual, and perimenopausal concerns. A mother herself, Dr. Berlin finds great joy in helping women who are curious about how hormonal changes are affecting them, but want to be seen as more than the symptoms they are experiencing. Appreciating that hormones are but one factor in how fully we experience our lives, Dr. Berlin takes a psychodynamically oriented approach to patient care. Her collaborative and integrative approach means she works closely with ob-gyns and primary care doctors—as well as with her patients themselves.  Dr. Berlin has supervised and taught psychiatry residents at UCSF, where her work earned multiple awards, and she remains on the volunteer faculty in the UCSF Department of Psychiatry. She has a B.A. in French Literature from Cornell University, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa, and an MD from UCSF.
