Ceres Rutan, Psy.D is a Clinical Psychologist specializing in individual, couples, and group psychotherapy for postpartum adjustment.  In individual psychotherapy, Dr. Rutan often works initially to relieve symptoms such as anxiety attacks, acute depression, obsessive / compulsive fears, and insomnia, and then works with more in-depth issues as a new mother’s functioning improves.  As a couples’ therapist, Dr. Rutan assists new parents in adjusting to becoming a family and addressing any underlying problems in the relationship that surface in the extremely stressful first year of parenting.

Ceres Rutan, Psy.D facilitates a Postpartum Depression Support Group for women feeling depressed, anxious, overwhelmed, inadequate, or having sleep difficulties.  The group is held every Tuesday morning @ 11:30 at her office on Sutter at Divisadero in San Francisco. Women often bring their babies to the support group where they receive the support of other mothers experiencing a difficult adjustment in the postpartum.

Chris Weipert, MFT is a psychotherapist in private practice who specializes in issues of pregnancy and parenthood. She works with individuals and couples during the hope and frustration of fertility, the emotional roller coaster of pregnancy, and the exciting but exhausting transition to parenthood. She can also help with the pain and loss of miscarriage, as well as the disappointment of a cesarian section or other unexpected and difficult birth outcomes.

Chris runs the “Mindful Pregnancy Support Group” – a weekly group for women at any stage of their pregnancy. In this group, women explore the range of feelings that emerge during pregnancy, learn mindfulness techniques proven to reduce stress, and create connections with other pregnant women.

She works with a wide range of families from straight to queer (LGBTQ) as well as families with alternative structures.

During her ten years in private practice, Chris has also worked at non-profits with a wide range of populations including trauma survivors, LGBTQ individuals and couples, queer homeless youth, elementary school children, and adolescents and their families.

Today, she lives and works in San Francisco and is the mother of a beautiful two-year-old daughter.
